DUCTZ FRANCHISEE PROFILED ON FRANCHISING.COM
Tommy Hoopsick, owner and operator of DUCTZ of Richmond Southside and DUCTZ of DelChester, recently sat down with Franchising.com for an exclusive Q&A. The interview, titled Cleaning Up: Hardworking Youth Rises to the Challenge, was featured on Franchising.com’s Profiles section, which highlights successful multi-unit franchisees and their stories of growth. As BELFOR Franchise Group’s youngest franchisee ever, and the owner of two thriving DUCTZ businesses, Tommy was a natural fit for the profile.
Tommy joined BELFOR Franchise Group as a DUCTZ owner in 2012 when he was only 19 years old, and he did not take the traditional route to franchise ownership. While working night shifts at a grocery distribution center, Tommy took on a side job with the local DUCTZ franchise in Richmond, VA. After seeing Tommy’s strong work ethic and constant determination, the owner of that DUCTZ franchise decided to sell the business to Tommy.
On becoming a franchisee:Tommy’s success has been built on drive, self-development, dedication to his craft, and excellent customer service. Applying those principles to his Richmond business enabled Tommy to purchase his second DUCTZ franchise just four years later, in 2016. Today, both of those locations are prospering, and his team continues to reach new levels of success: they recently completed their largest single project at $230,000. There's no stopping in sight!
I planned on owning businesses but I didn't know I'd start with a franchise. Looking back, I was very fortunate that I did start with a franchise. It helped speed up the learning curve of owning and running a business.
